Elo Calculator for FIDE is a chess software that runs on Windows PC. It calculates all Elo results (including chess rating, performance and more) by the rules of FIDE. The following is 24 tips of Elo Calculator for FIDE to know and apply them in order to use Elo Calculator easily and to provide you with comfort and convenience:
Tip 1. Instead of clicking Calculate to begin calculations, you can press Enter.
Tip 2. Instead of clicking Calculate, you can also press the calculator icon at the top left.
Tip 3. To cycle through all text boxes, command and option buttons, you can use the TAB key.
Tip 4. To cycle only through the key text boxes, press letter Z on your keyboard for several times.
Tip 5. To return a few controls back in the program's TAB order, use the shortcut keys SHIFT + TAB.
Tip 6. At exit, the program saves the values of the Player's Rating and Player's K-factor.
Tip 7. Next run, the program will appear on the same position where you last placed it.
Tip 8. The program calculates Elo results considering the FIDE rule of 400 points in rating difference.
Tip 9. The program displays 2 values of Opponents' Average. The first is due to considering the FIDE rule of 400 points while the second is without it.
Tip 10. To select a default value of the Player's K-factor 10, 20 or 40, you can press ALT + 1, ALT + 2, or ALT + 4.
Tip 11. To access the text box Player's Rating, Player's Score, or Number of Games, you can press ALT + R, ALT + S, or ALT + N.
Tip 12. The program accepts the decimal separator into the Player's Score text box because the score may be, for example, 7.5.
Tip 13. If the Player's Score is like 7.5 then type 7 and press PERIOD(.) or COMMA(,). The program will add 5 by itself automatically.
Tip 14. Once you have typed the 4th character into a text box of Individual Ratings of the Opponents, the program will shift to the next text box.
Tip 15. The program validates the data inputs. If a wrong character has been typed, it will not appear on the screen.
Tip 16. The program automatically counts the Number of Games as you type Individual Ratings of the Opponents.
Tip 17. If not enough data or wrong data were typed into a text box, the program will ask you to correct it by displaying a message.
Tip 18. You can change the default values of K-factor 10, 20, 40 to other ones through the Options window. To open the Options window, on menu click Tools, and then click Options.
Tip 19. To better see the Elo results including the initial input data, you can move aside the program's windows by clicking the Move Aside button in the Player's Results window.
Tip 20. You can show the black king icon in the K-factor frame. To show it, on menu click View, point to King Icon, and then click Show.
Tip 21. You can hide the program ToolTips. To hide them, on menu click View, point to ToolTips, and then click Hide.
Tip 22. To display Help, press the shortcut key F1.
Tip 23. To quickly quit the program or close the active program's window, press the ESC key.
Tip 24. To change the program shortcut icon, right-click the program's shortcut, point to and click Properties. Click Change Icon, select a new one and click OK.
